Tomorrow is my favorite holiday, bar none.

This year it’s pretty rough…and I’m not getting the calm before the holiday shit storm that I am used to. My favorite Halloween collectible, Department 56, has been bought and is no longer going to be producing their Halloween line. In addition to granny’s situation, (it’s about to get complicated, so deep breath) james’s ex-girlfriend aka Luke’s mom’s great grandmother also had a stroke this week and on top of that her sister’s, that would be Luke’s aunt’s, boyfriend’s father (I think it was his father? too much to keep track of) passed away and the funeral is today.

It has been raining nearly every day and yesterday it was near hurricane rain conditions around here. We had tornado watches and flash flood warnings and just BAH.

On top of that, it’s the first year we are sans Sprog on the big day and well, we are pretty set in our traditional kid centric holiday. I have NO IDEA what one does on Halloween when they have no kid and actually wants to have fun. The last Halloween I spent in a bar, I don’t remember it being all that entertaining. So UGH. It’s tomorrow night and we (and some of our friends) have no plans and technically I don’t even have a costume. I have MOST of a costume. Apparently leg holsters are a bitch to find. Who knew?

At any rate, I shall not be deterred from my love of this holiday. Candy corn for everyone!

I recommend The Nightmare Before Christmas: Revisited as a proper soundtrack for today and tomorrow. If you don’t have it, you should definitely get it. It has all the music from the movie soundtrack re-done by musicians like Marilyn Manson or Korn. If not that, Rob Zombie will do nicely.

I am SUPER EXCITED about this Halloween. Jackson’s at the age now where he’s excited to get treats and I’m excited to see him know on people’s doors. You are welcome to drive the forever hours to come with us. :)

darlin’ with everything going on in your life right now i’m surprised you’re even getting out of bed let alone functioning.

i’m having a hard time getting into things this year too - the weather definately hasn’t helped since it prevented most of my outdoor stuff. Boo’s excited though and i made goody bags since we don’t get many ToTer’s

Well you know my feelings on the holiday. But I know how much you love it, so I hope you have a great time, whatever you do!

I’m planning to go watch college football at a bar in the afternoon with some friends and then go to bed early because we’re planning another marathon drinking session on Sunday watching football.

Hope your Halloween is SPOOKTACULAR!

i’m not a huge fan of bars on halloween - too crowded and too full of 21 yr old girls and their too-exposed boobs. now, halloween house parties?? ALLL over it :-)

sensibly Sassy Says:

oh hon I am sure all of this is happening first of all but for it to be happening when you are usually so happy. Hopefully you will be able to focus some happiness for the big day. It might be just what you need

I’m so sorry there is so much going on right now. I hope it ends soon. I’m sure you found something fun to do last night and I can’t wait to hear about it!

I'm a 30-something mother of 1 boy and 3 large fur-babies, with an unhealthy addiction to fashion, decorating, shoes, photography, music and the internets. I blather on more in the "about me" section and well, in every blog post, that after all is the nature of the beast, is it not?
