Thanksgiving has come and gone and I woke up this morning with a screaming headache for my trouble.

The sweet potato/candied yams were a HUGE success even though “we don’t eat that”. I will be making them every year from now until eternity apparently. I preferred the sweet potatoes with banana and honey, it’s not as sweet and has a crumble crust on the top with almonds and brown sugar. I tweaked Mr. Florence’s recipe a bit so that the mixture included some half and half and was mixed in the food processor to resemble a more souffle like texture and I also added cinnamon and fresh ground nutmeg (I am unsure how those were not included in his original recipe, the spices I mean). The candied yams, I had also never made before but I just drained canned sweet potatoes (why are they called yams then?) and added brown sugar, pats of butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon and then topped the whole thing with marshmallows before baking it off in the oven.

In case you were wondering, Costco pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake? Tasty goodness!

My MIL almost gave me a coronary in the kitchen several times during the afternoon by attempting to kill herself with sharp implements. She is SO scatterbrained and frenetic at the same time and this is a bad combination when dealing with sharp knives. Who puts knives back in a drawer blade up? My MIL. Oy.

Today we are Festing it up for the first time this season. I can’t believe we are FINALLY getting to go…it feels like we were almost not gonna go this year at all. I’m sad we never got a trip with Sprog this year but schedules were a mess like no other year…anyway, Wills and I (if he actually dresses with me) will be the only two in our very extended group today in costume, which kinda makes me sad, I love going in a big group in dress but what can you do?

I haven’t decided what I am wearing yet and I am waiting on coffee to release me from this headache before I even start trying on some options. Here are some pics from past costumes/years…it will be one of these.

I'm a 30-something mother of 1 boy and 3 large fur-babies, with an unhealthy addiction to fashion, decorating, shoes, photography, music and the internets. I blather on more in the "about me" section and well, in every blog post, that after all is the nature of the beast, is it not?
